A Message from our Principal

Summer has finally found its way to Perkins and we certainly hope all of our Briar Families are enjoying some relaxation and family time. Meanwhile, preparations are already underway for the 2019-2020 school year.

Schedules are being built and balanced, rooms are being cleaned, grades and records from last year are being stored and next year’s data is being readied for entry, and supplies are being restocked. It might seem like the building is resting on the outside, but let me assure you that it is alive on the inside with activities taking place in just about every corner.

The 2019-2020 school year will see us re-introduce the staggered start. The first day of school on Aug. 28, will be for our 6th grade students only. This will allow our entire staff to welcome the incoming Class of 2026 and to help them make a successful transition to Briar.  All 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students will report on Aug. 29.

Periodically you might see some class schedules popping up on your child’s PowerSchool account. Please disregard any of these as once we go live with putting data into PS, it shows on student accounts. We are moving classes and students regularly to balance the building schedule so nothing you see is set until we lock it down sometime in mid August.

We very much look forward to having everything in place for next year by the end of June so that when Mr. Thom and I come back in on Aug. 1, the custodians will have most of the building put back together and we can begin final preparations for the new year.

Have a wonderful summer Briar families and if you need us, we are in the office from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily until June 29, and then back again on Aug. 1.
