Band and Choir

Briar Middle School: There are three groups in middle school: 6th grade band, 7th grade band, and 8th grade band. Each group meets every day for a class period. Sixth grade band performs two concerts a year, while seventh and eighth grade bands have a performance each quarter. Seventh and eighth grade bands perform with the PHS Marching Band at homecoming. They have three concerts held in the high school auditorium. Seventh and eighth graders also perform at an adjudicated event through OMEA at the end of the school year.

In the choir department, we have two 6th grade choirs each for one semester long. The 6th grade choir provides a great opportunity to work as a team, make friendships, build confidence and develop musicianship. Each 6th grade choir has one concert. The 7th and 8th grade choirs meet every day throughout the year, during one period each. Their hard work every day allows them to perform once per quarter. The 8th grade choir is given the opportunity to participate in the OMEA honors choir, solo and ensemble, and perform the National Anthem for the Toledo Walleye’s.
