Academic Challenge

The Perkins Middle School Academic Challenge teams are comprised of sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students who try out for the teams by taking a series of general knowledge tests. The six students from each grade level who score the highest on the general knowledge tests become the team members. Team members participate in after school team practices, read literature books assigned for the tournaments, study geography, fine arts, math, science, and current event topics. Team members represent Perkins at the Erie County Academic Challenge meets. Erie County championship teams go on to compete in the Quad County Academic Challenge meets, consisting of championship teams from Erie, Huron, Ottawa, and Sandusky counties. The group meets 1.5 hours after school and during lunch on a bi-weekly basis.
